Discover the church with an Italian touch. Listed Grade II in 2006.
Description
Built on the site of a former collegiate church destroyed during the Vendée wars, this church was completely rebuilt in the 19th century according to Italian models. It has been listed grade II since 2006. This listing is due to its campanile (bell tower), inspired by central Italy, and its main building, inspired by a basilica in Rome, San Giovanni e San Paolo. It is the most recognisable Italian feature in the city.
Inside, you'll find a remarkable fresco dating from 1930.
To get the most out of the church, you can of course admire it from inside. However, you can also admire it from other vantage points, such as the Vallée bridge, the terrace of the Best Western hotel, the Viaduct de Clisson or the terrace of the Villa Lemot.
